Ok, so most of my dreams are odd. In fact, it’s usually when they aren’t odd that I wake up feeling like things are off. But last night is an exception to that rule.
Last night I dreamt I was playing D3 and saw my friend KindaGamey jump online. I joined his game and we were having a great time killing things (though suddenly we were both IN the game, not just passively controlling our character’s movements… but that’s normal dream-stuff).
Suddenly, a message pops up on my visor-con (a bit like Halo 3) and I see it is from a mutual friend of ours, Tmblweave: “I found the raptor! Join now!” (FYI, as far as I know Tmblweave does not play D3, and we have not spoken in ages, so why he is on D3 AND messaging me about RAPTORS I have NO idea.)
I instantly think to myself “Oh my goodness! What a rare spawn! I have to go check it out!” But I feel guilty leaving my friend KindaGamey to play on his own. But it’s THE RAPTOR!! (I must point out, there are no dinosaurs in D3.)
I let KindaGamey know I have to jump (because I HAVE to see this thing!), and he writes some response back (why everything is still text-based if we’re physically in the same game, I’m not sure) which I cannot read except for the last bit, which says “I wish you’d call me more often.”
Ack! I feel terrible! I’m already transitioning to the other game and trying to respond. I’m thinking, Why the heck does he want me to call him? I’m all the way in Brazil and we’ve never been THAT kind of friend. Drinking buddies and game nights, sure. But calling to hear each other on the other end of the line? Not really. What’s going on?
So I’m trying to type back (again, because for some reason speaking isn’t an option) and ask him if I read that last bit right. Do you want me to call you? But for some reason every time I hit “send” the message disappears into the ether and doesn’t go through.
Then suddenly Tmblweave’s game has loaded and I spawn JUST as he kills the Raptor. He’s raving about how beautiful the battle was and keeps on pointing out the beautiful colors of the beast. (Again, I am now somehow IN the game, but this time we can actually talk to each other, not just type.) I’m like, “Yea. Yea.” because now I’m disappointed I left the fun game with KindaGamey to come see a Raptor carcass.
And then I wake up.
Odd dream, huh?
